Happy May to you! This is one of our favorite months of the year, with winter finally banished but the hot months of summer not quite here. Spring is all around us with fresh new growth and lots of color.
May Day is on May 1 and it’s the perfect time to surprise a friend or neighbor with the gift of flowers, or even creating a new flower bed in your garden. And don’t forget about Mother’s Day on May 8! We are so thankful for the mothers in our lives, whether it’s a mom, grandma, aunt, favorite friend, or anyone else who has loved and guided us. We hope you enjoy our ideas for great garden gift ideas for that special person in your life.
And finally, May 30 is Memorial Day when we honor the men and women who died while serving in the United States military — we are thankful for their service and will never forget their sacrifice.

Grub Treatment
Those pesky (and damaging) grubs really do a number on our lawns, and May is the perfect time to treat. We can apply a treatment now that will prevent lawn damage later in the season, but please give us a call as soon as possible! This is a busy time of year for gardening and lawncare, and we want to be sure to get you into our schedule.

It’s so exciting to see the lawn wake up and turn green after the long winter. Let’s get your lawn off to a good start with a regular mowing, edging, and fertilizing schedule so it’s ready for upcoming summer activities.

Mother’s Day Garden Gift
What better way to thank the special woman in your life than to give the gift of a garden? It lasts so much longer than a flower arrangement, and it’s a living reminder of how much she means to you! We bet one of these would be a big hit:
- Pollinator garden
- Flower garden
- Healing garden
- Sitting area
- Memorial garden
Spring Tidy-Up
We’d love to come over and give your lawn and garden a good tidy-up before summer arrives, so you can enjoy the warm months worry-free. Sometimes the landscape looks a bit raggedy after the winter, doesn’t it? We can whip it all into shape for you in no time once you schedule your appointment—email Tom to get the ball rolling.
Annual Color
Those beautiful annuals do such a great job to brighten up the garden. If you have some bare spots, a new garden that needs filling in, or simply crave a little more color, we can make that happen. Some of our favorites include:
- Petunias
- Impatiens
- Begonias
- Angelonia
- Calibrachoa
- Celosia
Let’s get these annuals planted so you can enjoy a summer of unstoppable color!
Spring Shrub Trimming
Not all shrubs are trimmed at the same time of year, and it’s one of the things that can be confusing and frustrating for homeowners to understand. If it’s a flowering shrub, for example, and you prune it at the wrong time, you’ll be cutting off either this or next year’s blooms! Let us handle it for you; we have the tools, the know-how, and the experience to keep your shrubs looking great all year long.
Brush Cutting
Now that winter is gone, it’s easier to see all of the trees, shrubs, and wild growth that need to be removed. Maybe your landscape had some winter damage and you’ve got dead or damaged limbs that need removing, or you’d like a section of your landscape to be cleared out. This is a lot of work, and best left to professionals like us who can do it quickly and safely. Give us a shout and we’ll add you to our spring schedule!
May Mulching
You’ve heard us talk about this before: Mulching is one of the best things you can do for your garden to keep it healthy and thriving. When done properly, mulching can:
- Suppress weeds
- Regulate the soil moisture
- Enhance the look of the garden
- Help control erosion
We bring in bulk material and get the mulching done quickly, so you don’t have hours of backbreaking work doing it on your own.
